Welcome to West Lockinge Farm

Henrietta Knight
Henrietta Knight (Hen) was born in 1946 and trained racehorses from West Lockinge Farm in Oxfordshire from 1989–2012. She was responsible for over 700 winners. Best Mate won three consecutive Cheltenham Gold Cups (2002, 2003 and 2004) and Edredon Bleu won The Queen Mother Champion Chase in 2000. Both horses won the King George VI Chase at Kempton (2002 and 2003) – other flag bearers included Calgary Bay, Karshi, Impek, Lord Noelie, Racing Demon and Somersby.
In 1993 Hen met, and later married, Terry Biddlecombe, the triple Champion National Hunt Jockey of the 1960s. They forged a great partnership and won numerous racing awards. Hen was voted Horserace Writers and Photographers NH Trainers of the Year, 2002, and Channel 4 Personality of the Year in 2003. Terry sadly died aged 72 in 2014.
Although no longer holding a Trainer’s License, Hen continues to run an extensive horse business at West Lockinge. She also owns the well-established Lockinge Connemara Pony Stud.
There is plenty of action at the farm and some lovely racehorses on view, which are either being pre-trained or schooled by experienced staff. There are a number of top class facilities to hand.
Buying and Selling
Known to have a good eye for a horse – Hen does plenty of judging at all the major shows in the UK and Ireland – She also enjoys buying horses for clients or giving advice on purchases – Hen attends many of the leading bloodstock sales and has excellent contacts in the horse world. Horses prepared for sale from West Lockinge tend to command high prices at auction.
